Programme Requirements / Qualification Profile of the Graduate

The course enables students to develop competences for different types of design work from applied arts to product design. It aims at providing a comprehensive theoretical and application oriented practical education leading to an independent artistic position and enabling students to become established in the fields of applied arts and product design. Thanks to the cooperation with partners in research as well as in the industry and in trade and thanks to the integrated internship of one semester, for which students can choose a national or international business, students gain the knowledge and know-how for a successful career start. Course units from the fields of marketing, management and law foster the understanding of the entrepreneurial perspective.

Students gain valuable experience which will help them to deal with the competition on the labour market through presentations at trade fairs and exhibitions as well as the participation in competitions, which are part of the programme. Students are enabled to work independently and creatively; and after completing this course, they will be able to work on differentiated design projects in a problem, time and target oriented manner.

Interdisciplinary competences:

Artistic nature studies, Basics of anatomy, study of the nude, Basics of design (2D and 3D), Typography and layout, Artistic presentation concepts, Graphic design for print, Photography, Video, Theory of art and social sciences, Economics, English terminology

Competences in textile art/ textile design:

Design for textile series and single piece production, Textile technology, Textile processes, Fabric construction, Product documentation and presentation, Material aesthetics, Materials science

Field of activity

There are several areas in which the graduate can use his/her skills. He/she can design wall hangings for homes, clubs, religious buildings and public places.

  • He/she can work in the field of interior design.
  • He/she can design instructional and therapeutical play items and toys.
  • He/she could also play a creative role in a company or work as a freelance designer.
