Acoustics and Technology of Musical Instrument Making (Masters)

The degree programme combines knowledge of acoustics with modern technologies such as lightweight design, the use of alternative materials, and reverse engineering, as well as studying academic writing methods. As part of the course, you will also spend time looking at business models, to provide you with all-round knowledge.

  • A degree in the field of musical instrument making or a Masters degree or a German Diplom in a comparable subject area, with at least 240 ECTS points.
  • Applicants who have achieved a degree with fewer than 210 ECTS points are able to take a preliminary semester to obtain the necessary 30 ECTS points.
  • Applicants with an international qualification have to show proof of language skills in both written and spoken German at a B2 Level according to Common European Framework of Reference of Languages. In cases of uncertainty the examination office of the design department will decide on the basis of the documents submitted or a language assessment.
