Data Science (Bachelor)

Digital progress is fundamentally changing the way we live and generate wealth. This also applies to the foundations of our value creation processes, in which data develops into a central raw material and data-based business models develop into a basis for all sectors of the economy. Particularly the continuous flow of data determines the use of new trends, innovations and research opportunities. The use and evaluation of data and data streams is the driving force behind progress in all sectors - be it industry, mobility, energy, education or healthcare.

More and more forms of data are available to us: in industry - through consistent monitoring and conversion of processes, in research - through new evaluation methods and modern consideration of phenomena and developments, but also in private life, where developments such as the Smart Home are becoming the norm. The targeted storage and evaluation of this data offer great value creation potential for companies. Already today, anonymised data analyses are used to treat serious diseases such as cancer more accurately and to provide people with better, personalised chances of recovery. This requires appropriate data sets which can be made accessible for evaluation for the benefit of the general public and which can be evaluated by new analysis methods such as the rapidly developing Data Sciences.

Many regional and global companies are expanding their commitment to Data Science. These include cross-sector industry, trade, digital media as well as financial services and management consulting. However, data analysis is also of great interest in medicine, robotics, the automotive and financial industries and process optimisation. In addition to good salary and promotion prospects, the sector also promises a creative and dynamic field of activity.
