Every good musician requires high-quality instruments in order to really captivate his or her audience. In our course in musical instrument construction you’ll learn theoretical and practical knowledge and skills which will enable you to design and construct high-quality, artistically designed musical instruments. Here you have the choice between two fields of study: plucked instrument construction and bowed instrument construction. Important: for the inclusion of this study is required an aptitude test. admission requirements
  • University Entrance Qualifications (A prerequisite for application is the general high-school graduation certificate (Abitur) or comparable qualification for admission to higher education.)
  • In some cases proof of exceptional ability can be accepted and students made exempt of the University Entrance Qualification
  • Proof of practical work experience in the field of musical instrument making
  • Subject-specific apprenticeship certification exam (violin making, plucked instrument making)
  • In exceptional cases, applicants may be accepted on the basis of work experience (two years minimum) in the field of instrument making, or alternatively having completed a craftsman apprenticeship and having had experience of working in the field of instrument making alongside, without having completed an apprenticeship certification exam. In both cases, work samples must be shown.
