Curriculum vitae:

Born in 1965 in Rheinbach near Bonn (Germany), after an apprenticeship as a bank clerk Prof. Brauweiler studied economics at the University of Paderborn and was a Fulbright Scholar at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois (USA). After the honors in 1993 he became a research assistant at the Department of Economics at the Technical University of Zittau (now University of Applied Sciences Zittau-Görlitz) and the Department of Business Administration at the International Graduate School Zittau (now Technical University Dresden). In 2000 he completed his doctorate with a thesis on innovation economics from the Technical University of Freiberg (Chair of Economics, Prof. Dr. Michael Fritsch, now University of Jena). During this time, he was Managing Partner in a consulting partnership. He proceeded in his career as Chief Financial Officer of several companies (Automotive and Educational branches). After a professorship at the HTW Dresden Prof. Brauweiler was appointed professor of Controlling and Accounting at the AKAD-University of Leipzig. There, he held in addition consecutively the posts of vice-rector and rector, each for a three-year-term. In the winter semester 2013/2014 he accepted an appointment as Professor of Managerial Accounting and Internal Audit at WHZ Zwickau University of Applied Sciences. He is also managing partner of a consulting firm.

Since 1992 he regularly publishes and edits books and articles on various topics of business administration, management and economics. Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Brauweiler is a regular guest professor and program director of undergraduate finance programme at the German-Kazakh University Almaty, Kazakhstan, and is a frequent guest lecturer at various other universities at home and abroad (Poland , Czech Republic) , he is appointed as an expert reviewer for research funding from the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic, accredited member of the selection committee for scholarships of the German-American Fulbright Commission and acts as an independent expert for research programs at the European Commission. Peer reviewer for various accreditation agencies.

His international experience, engagement and efforts were awarded by an honorary professorship and doctorate of the Tajik Technical University of Khujand in Feb. 2012. In 2017 Prof. Brauweiler received the award of an honorary doctorate from Volgograd State University (RU) for long-term research and teaching cooperation, as well in 2017 he got awarded with an honorary professorship for ongoing cooperation in international teaching and projects by the Ural Academy for Administration, Economy and Law Yekaterinburg (RU), also in 2017 he received the honorary doctor of the Kazakh American Free University (KAFU) Ust Kamenogorsk (Kaz.) due to many years of cooperation. 2019 he was honored with the honorary professorship of the KAFU due to the intensive project, research and teaching cooperation.

On a private basis Prof. Brauweiler is since 1986 a licensed private pilot with night flying qualification and multiengine-rating and has currently ca. 700 hours of flight experience.
