Library

The University Library serves as a central institution for teaching, research and study, as well as, vocational and general extended education. As a public scientific library, its function is to provide the region of West Saxony with information and literature. The main library, which is a special library for natural sciences, technology and environment, is located in the town centre of Zwickau at the Kornmarkt. Opened in July 1998, our main library features:

  • 126 reading places
  • 44 PC terminals
  • 5 carrels
  • Media centre, group work rooms
  • Inventory of over 198 000 textbooks, monographs, dictionaries, encylopedias, law gazettes, periodicals, audio-visual material etc.
  • Subscriptions to 572 journals
  • 95 000 standards and 300 000 patents for a wide variety of disciplines

Economics, Health and Healthcare Sciences, Languages – Campus Scheffelstraße
Applied Arts – Campus Schneeberg
Textile and Leather Engineering and Architecture – Campus Reichenbach
At the main library as well as at the branch library Scheffelstraße the service staff is not present at all hours. Monday – Friday evenings and Saturdays, one can only check out books at the self-service terminals or use the library for reading.
