By network card
A reserved IP address will be communicated to you with the confirmation of the Application. You can find the installation instructions here or on your confirmation.
Normally, no further configuration is required. The connection data given on the confirmation is for information only.
However, if a connection cannot be established, please check whether your device is set to obtain the IP address and DNS server address automatically.
Procedure: Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Adapter Settings > LAN Connections > Properties > Internet Protocol Version 4 > Properties > enable the "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" options.
Via WiFi
The login takes place at the WiFi SSID eduroam with the user ID received from the ZKI.
The configuration is analogous to theeduroam configuration.
Please note that the use of own WiFi networks affects the connection quality of the university WiFi and should therefore be avoided in the interest of the general public!
Test of the network card and gateway (under Windows)
Start -> Search -> type: CMD -> press Enter -> in DOS-Window:
type: "ping 141.32.xxx.xxx" (own IP)
type: "ping 141.32.xxx.1" (Gateway)
Problem solution: After correct configuration of LAN setting no connection
The reasons may be overwriting of the gateway caused by a program.
Top check in CMD -> ipconfig /all
Attention: Start CMD as administrator
If the LAN setting of the gateway shows only 0.0.0.0 or 141.32.XXX.1 and also 0.0.0.0, enter the following command route delete 0.0.0.0
Then check the setting again. If no 141.32.XXX.1 is displayed in the LAN setting, add it again manually.
Attention: The procedure must be repeated after each restart of the computer. Or the causing program must be uninstalled.
