Your Application

The following provides an overview of the application procedure and the requirements to study at the University of Applied Science Zwickau (WHZ).

General requirements

To study at a German University you need to provide evidence of an appropriate university entrance certificate/qualification. If you are unsure your certificate/qualification qualifies you to study at a German University you can find further information here.

If, in accordance with the assessment guidelines of the Central Office for Foreign Education Bonn (ZAB), an indirect university entrance qualification exists, the one-year FSP course (Feststellungsprüfung) must first be completed at Studienkolleg Zittau/Görlitz.

If you do not meet the language requirements for direct university admission and at least have a German B1 language level, you can attend a preparatory DSH course at Foreign Students' College of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG).

The FSP and DSH courses are free of charge. You cannot apply for this directly. Admission is subject to a prior study application at our university.

Specific requirements

Some degree programs also require specific prerequisites. These can be, for example, certificates or internships and work experience. You will find this information in the description of the degree program (see WHZ courses of study).

The following language certificates are recognized for the purposes of admission:

  • Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache (TestDaf), the following results in the four sub-tests:
    2 x at least level 3 (written/oral expression) and 2 x at least level 4 (listening/reading comprehension)
  • Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH – at least Level 2)
  • Deutsches Sprachdiplom (DSD – at least Level 2)
  • Goethe-Certificate (C1 or C2)
  • Certificate "telc Deutsch" (C1 or C2 Hochschule)
  • Feststellungsprüfung (Passed partial exam German in FSP certificate)

The University of Applied Science Zwickau is a TestDaF examination centre, so you can take the TestDaF directly in Zwickau. The Department for Subject-Related Language Training (Fachbezogene Sprachausbildung) also offers preparatory courses. Find out more here.

Note: If a different language requirement is specified in the description of the program or in a cooperation agreement, this applies. (see WHZ courses of study)
