What is Tandem?
The Tandem Project is designed to provide a self-governing way of learning a language, where two students of different mother tongues meet up regularly, to communicate both in their native language and learn the foreign language. The aim is to communicate with each other and learn from one another.
The time, place, aims and contents of the meetings are set by the individual partners, which places a large responsibility on self-initiative. There is no timetable, no teacher, no teaching books and also no exams!
Whilst the main priority of the project is to improve language competency, the project is also there to help build relationships between German and international students, get to know another culture and also improve intercultural communication.
The learning process is reflected upon and documented regularly during the project.
Taking part in the Tandem Project can be certified and accredited by the Certificate of Intercultural Competence.
